Library Technology Resources

Crounse Training Laboratory

The Crounse Training Laboratory is located on the lower level of the library. The lab is open the same hours as the library, and is available for students when not in use for library instruction courses or Center for Teaching and Learning workshops. Faculty may reserve the computer lab online here for non-recurring classroom sessions (please contact a reference librarian if you are faculty and wish to reserve the lab more than three times in a single term).

Print jobs may be retrieved at either one of the two printer/copier workstations located on the main level of the library.

Laptops, Library

Twelve laptop computers and power adaptors are available at the Circulation Desk for loan to students. The laptops are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved ahead of time. See software for a list of programs installed on each laptop. All library laptops are configured to print to one of three black & white printer/copier workstations located on the main level of the library. Color printing can be done through Document Services; for more information and instructions, click here.

Laptops, Personal

Personal laptops can be used in the library to access the campus network. For instructions on connecting to the campus network, click here. For more information, contact ITS. It is possible to print from your personal laptop to the library's printer/copier workstations. To do this you will need to install a small software package on your laptop. Links to download the software are available at the Pharos Uniprint Home Page.

Library Network, Wired

All of the study carrels in the library are equipped with data ports and power outlets, providing wired access to the campus network. The study tables in the front reading rooms also have power outlets and data ports. To connect to the wired network with your own laptop, you need to have a network card and cable.

Library Network, Wireless

Doherty Library is equipped with a wireless network, offering mobile connectivity and network accessibility from various locations. Although coverage is available throughout the library, there may be some areas where coverage is better than others. Bring your own laptop or check one out at the library's Circulation Desk. REMEMBER: Transmissions over the wireless network are not encrypted. Therefore, users are advised not to transmit personal information such as social security number or credit card information while using the wireless network.

Library Computers

Sixteen computers are available in the Reference area of the library for student use. See software for installed programs.

Photocopying

Three black & white printer/copier workstations are located on the main levelof the library. A valid Centre ID is required to photocopy. Instructions for photocopying are available at the stations. College policies governing the cost of photocopying are in effect for these stations.
